YAG laser capsulotomy is a relatively simple, in-office procedure that might be needed after cataract surgery.  When you have cataract surgery, your doctor removes your eye’s cloudy lens and replaces it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). Sometimes after surgery – it could be weeks or even years later – this new lens capsule can become cloudy or wrinkled, causing blurry vision.  After an examination and referral to Sightline by your primary optometrist, a YAG capsulotomy will be performed in one of our offices. A laser is used to make an opening in the cloudy capsule, allowing light to pass through again for clear vision.
